Cellar Club was born from a simple conviction: that the finest wine advice doesn't come from a certificate on a wall — it comes from someone who has spent decades building, tasting, and thinking about wine the way only a true collector can.

Raphael spent twenty years in finance, developing an eye for long-term value and a deep appreciation for things built to last. That same rigour shaped his private cellar — now home to over 25,000 bottles and one of the most carefully curated private collections in the country.

Through years of direct relationships with domaines, négociants, and merchants across Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany, the Loire, Champagne, Spain, and the New World, Raphael has secured access to allocations that are simply unavailable through conventional channels. He founded Cellar Club to share that access — and the knowledge behind it — with those who appreciate what it represents.

What distinguishes Cellar Club is not a sommelier's palate alone, but the perspective of someone who has sat on both sides of a great table: as a guest who demands excellence, and as a collector who understands provenance, patience, and value.

Do I need to be an existing wine collector to work with Cellar Club?

Not at all. Many of our private clients come to us at the beginning of their collecting journey. Others arrive with established cellars they'd like to evolve. We tailor our approach entirely to where you are — whether that's building from scratch or refining a collection that already spans decades.

What makes your access to wines different from a merchant or auction house?

Our relationships are personal, not commercial. Raphael's own cellar and long-standing ties with producers across Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany and beyond have built a level of trust that secures allocations outside normal trade channels. These are bottles that simply never reach the open market.

Can Cellar Club advise on wine as an investment?

Yes — and this is an area where our financial background offers real depth. We advise on cellar composition with long-term value in mind, help clients identify vintages and producers with strong appreciation potential, and can assist with positioning, storage, and eventual sale strategy. All wines sourced through Cellar Club are purchased directly in the client's name and held entirely under their custody — we act solely as your advisor, never as a intermediary taking title to the wine.

How does the advisory fee structure work?

We work on a bespoke basis — there is no one-size-fits-all model. Depending on the engagement, we may work on a retained advisory basis or a project fee. All fee structures are agreed transparently before any work begins. We're happy to discuss this during an initial consultation.

Can you help with wine for a wedding or private event on short notice?

We always aim to accommodate. That said, the finest wine experiences are planned with care — for major events like weddings, we recommend engaging us at least three to four weeks ahead, and we're happy to work directly with your venue or wedding planner to ensure everything is seamless. For smaller private dinners, we can often move considerably faster. Reach out as early as possible and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable.

Is my enquiry treated confidentially?

Completely. Discretion is not a feature of Cellar Club — it is a founding principle. We do not discuss client relationships, collections, or enquiries with third parties under any circumstances. Many of our clients value this as much as the wine itself.
